Project Overview
Hardypond Construction led the transformation of a historic church into 25 thoughtfully designed market-rate apartments while preserving the building’s rich architectural character. The project demonstrates our ability to integrate modern functionality with historic integrity, creating homes that respect the building’s past while serving today’s needs.
Scope of Work
The work involved a full interior renovation to accommodate individual apartment units, each outfitted with modern kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry, along with lofted storage. Careful attention was paid to preserving and highlighting original architectural features, including exposed beams, buttresses, stained and etched glass windows, and decorative clapboard siding. New dormers were strategically added to increase usable space while maintaining the historic aesthetic.
Approach & Expertise
This project reflects our strength in navigating the challenges of older structures, balancing preservation with modern functionality. Our team worked closely with the design team to ensure every decision honored the building’s character while meeting practical requirements for residents. The Clark on Pleasant showcases Hardypond’s collaborative approach, sensitivity to context, and ability to execute complex renovations in community-centered sites.
