The Value of Giving Back & Supporting Our Community

◄ Back to News

Now that the craziness of the holidays are over, we have an opportunity to reflect back on highlights from 2022. Beyond helping clients build excellent projects – like The Federal, Shalom House, and Reiche Elementary School –  one of our core values at Hardypond Construction is to give back to our community. For us, that means supporting our employees and their families, as well as supporting organizations that help advance the building trades. We are big fans of New Ventures Maine (NVME) whose mission is to help Maine people succeed and achieve economic security, and Central Maine Community College’s (CMCC) Foundation. In addition to supporting these great organizations with contributions from Hardypond, President Deirdre Wadsworth also donates her time to NVME to help make an impact.

In addition to supporting community organizations as a company, we also have a tradition of supporting charities that our employees care about. At the end of the year, we ask our team for a list of community nonprofit groups they are involved with and then give a small donation to each. The only parameters are that the organizations are local, but not religious or political in affiliation. “We’ve given to a lot of different organizations over the years and it’s become one of my favorite company traditions,” shares Wadsworth. “It’s a great education for me – I get to learn about all these different organizations throughout Maine, and I learn about what my team cares about.”

This year, Hardypond made donations on behalf of employees to the following organizations:

Community of Caring

Birth Roots

Maine Cancer Foundation

Girl Scouts of Maine

Winter Kids

Good Shepard Food Bank

Special Surfers

Travis Mills Foundation

Zeb Leavitt Scholarship/Maine Outdoor Learning Center

Children’s Miracle Network

Midcoast Humane Society

Maine Brain Aneurysm Awareness

Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals (MSSPA)

Let’s work together to support the organizations that make our community strong!
